Leeds Press Gang want to make a real difference and help asylum seekers and refugees get their voices heard.
We work with people with incredible experiences both in their country of origin and here in the UK. We know that people who listen to their stories are often changed by what they hear. We also know that most people
have very confused or ill-informed opinions of what seeking asylum really means. So we challenge the myths and untruths perpetrated by the media.
What we do
Our volunteers gather stories by interviewing refugees and reporting on local events. You can write press releases and feature articles, make short films and blog in order to empower asylum seekers and refugees to get their story heard in the media. Our newsletter One Planet Leeds has the biggest circulation of all refugee themed publications in Leeds. We also have a Press Gang blog http://pressgangleeds.blogspot.co.uk/.
Can you write a good story? Do you want to work in journalism? Are you a refugee with a story to tell?
