If you need support for a client to complete PIP (Personal Independence Payment) applications you can contact Leeds Citizen’s Advice or Leeds Welfare Rights Unit Tel: 0113 376 0452. You will need to inquire if they can provide an interpreter.
If it takes a while to access them, don’t be too concerned: your client should have a fair few weeks in which to complete/return the form.  You can make the most of any appointment you’ve got booked by preparing in advance, and thinking through your answers.

Jon, our Director says
“If you’re helping someone to prepare their answers, consider doing this over 3 or 4 sessions. Talking about what you can’t do on your worst days can be gruelling and sometimes emotional, so it’s good not to overload someone.  Also, typing up some basic notes afterwards can also help to work out what’s most important, and how you want to say things.
This is a great resource and the downloads are pretty accessible: http://www.disabilityrightsuk.org/personal-independence-payment-pip
It’s also really important that you manage the client’s expectations: only 45% of initial applications are successful, so there’s a high likelihood of needing to appeal a negative decision.  I’m really sorry that we’ve not got any dedicated welfare resources, but hopefully this will help.  Please don’t hesitate to give me a call if you think I can be helpful.”
