Volunteering is at the heart of everything LASSN does – and we are committed to ensuring all our volunteers are well trained for the roles they undertake. Each year we run a series of Training courses – drawing on skills and knowledge inside and outside the organisation.

JANUARY

LASSN AGM and Celebration 20th Jan, 11:30am – 2:30pm at All Hallows Church, 24 Regent Terrace LS6 1NP. Join us to hear about what LASSN has been up to, and celebrate with us over food and performance!

English at Home Skill Share – 29th Jan, 6-7pm in the LASSN offices. A great chance to share ideas and resources with other tutors. Book your place!

FEBRUARY

Mental Health training from SOLACE Feb 26th, 10-12.30pm at the Solace Office, Manor House, 1 Manor Street, LS7 1PZ.

MARCH

English at Home Otley Skill Share – 1st March, 10.30-11.30am at Bloomfields Cafe in Otley (for volunteers travelling in from here and further North). Contact [email protected] for full details. A chance to share ideas and resources. Book your place!

Preparing for the B1 exam4th March, 6-7pm online. Trinity College are running this session around how to prepare for the B1 exam as well as answering any questions you may have about it. Please register here.

APRIL

Getting the most from the online LASSN teaching resources – 17th April, 10.30am-12pm at the LASSN office. A session to look at navigating the online ESOL resources, sharing our favourites and answering any questions. Book your place here.

Visit to Leeds City College – 17th April, 10.30-11.30am at The Enfield Centre, Roundhay Road, LS7 1RG. An opportunity for LASSN clients interested in going to College to meet staff, have a tour and ask any questions they have. Booking is essential as places are very limited.

MAY

Training on Benefits and Finances (exact date and details tbc)

Social and Film Screening – 23rd May, 6.30pm – 9pm at the LASSN Offices. There will be a film screening then discussion after.

JUNE

Refugee Week 17-23rd June, stay tuned for details of LASSN’s involvement.

Refugee World Cup –22nd June, 12.30-4.30pm at Dixon’s Academy Pitch, LS7 3BG. The event is being organised by LASSN, LRF and Leeds United Foundation. Contact [email protected] if you want more information on how to enter as registration is essential.

JULY

AUGUST

The LASSN picnic – 1st August, 11am-1pm at Roundhay Park lower bandstand. A chance for everyone at LASSN to get together, play games, eat food and hopefully enjoy some sunshine!
