Here are the headlines of how we help keep people safe:

Volunteers and Staff

  • All volunteers and staff work to clear role descriptions and are required to provide two references and background checks (DBS).
  • LASSN provides training to all volunteers and staff about safeguarding, staying safe, effective boundaries, and the code of conduct.
  • All volunteers and staff complete a risk assessment about their usual tasks and receive regular supervision.
  • Where worries or concerns are identified, these are dealt with using the Adult Safeguarding Board’s model processes.

People we work with

  • LASSN’s referral form includes a question about known and potential risks, these are assessed by the Volunteers Manager at the Initial visit.
  • We conduct regular reviews with people referred to us where we discuss how things are going, how they are getting on with their volunteer, and if they have any concerns.
  • As part of our reviews, we also check with other agencies who may be involved with our clients.
  • All safeguarding concerns and referrals to social care and/or specialist agencies are discussed with the Director and clearly recorded in accordance with the Safeguarding Reporting Procedure.
  • Any referrals to social care are done so in accordance with good practice guidance around keeping the client appropriately informed and involved.
