English at Home

English at Home

English at Home provides free, one-to-one English lessons for refugees and people seeking asylum who cannot access formal classes.

Volunteer tutors deliver flexible sessions in learners’ homes or online, focusing on practical communication such as speaking to a doctor, understanding official letters, and navigating daily life.

The project reduces isolation, builds confidence, and removes barriers to participation.

By improving language skills and independence, English at Home helps people access services, engage with their communities, and take steps towards education, volunteering, and employment.

Hosting and Houses

Hosting and Houses provides safe, welcoming homes for people seeking asylum who would otherwise face homelessness and destitution.

Volunteer hosts offer temporary accommodation, while LASSN manages shared houses for those with nowhere else to turn.

Alongside a place to stay, guests receive practical and emotional support as they rebuild their lives.

The project offers stability, dignity, and a sense of belonging during times of uncertainty, enabling local people to respond with compassion and solidarity.
